Our Services

Raising your future lifelong companion.

Pool Training

Our Maltese puppies are gently introduced to water in a safe, fun environment. This builds confidence, coordination, and comfort around new experiences from an early age.

Potty Training

From the start, we guide our puppies with consistent routines for potty training. This helps them transition smoothly into their new homes with good habits already established.

Social Training

Early socialization is key to raising well-balanced, friendly Maltese. We carefully expose our puppies to people, sounds, and playtime with siblings to encourage confidence and positive behavior.

Our Blog

Know Your Breeder

It is critically important to meet your breeder! Reputable breeders should be open to meeting you and showing you how they manage their breeding program. Be careful when the breeder breeds more than one type of breed, e.g., Maltese and Yorkies and Maltipoos, etc. Combining multiple breeds into a single program is something a puppy mill would do to increase profits.

Meet the Parents

If you want a good indicator of how large your puppy will grow along with their disposition, meet the sire and dam. Do not take someone's word for it; meet the mom and dad, and if for some reason you cannot, insist on pictures and videos.

Ask Questions

When we receive calls or emails from potential buyers, we like getting lots of questions. It shows that you are taking this decision very seriously. We do not sell our dogs to just anyone; we want to make sure you are a fit and going to treat our dogs well. The biggest red flag for me is when someone calls and only inquires about the price. Price is a consideration, but it should never be the primary consideration.

Know the Price Range

Before contacting a breeder, do some Googling and get a sense of the price range of the breed. Like everything else in life, you get what you pay for. You can find cheap pups on Craigslist, but do you really want the cheapest Maltese you can find?

Avoid the Mills

Buying from pet stores often supports cruel puppy mills where dogs are mistreated and neglected. These places care more about profit than the health and well-being of the animals. Learn the facts in the link below before making a decision.

Maltese & Family Life

The Maltese is known for its gentle nature, affectionate personality, and loyalty to its family. In this post, you can highlight the breed’s history as a beloved companion dog, and why it’s especially great for households with kids or seniors. It’s a great chance to emphasize how OCM puppies are raised to be loving, lifelong companions.

Playful Moment’s

Where Happiness Runs on Four Paws

Do you only breed Maltese?

Yes, Orange County Maltese is fully dedicated to the Maltese breed. We believe that focusing on a single breed allows us to give the highest level of care, attention, and expertise to every puppy we raise. By specializing exclusively in Maltese, we can ensure strong genetics, beautiful coats, and sweet temperaments that truly represent the breed.

Where are you located?

We are located in Orange County, New York, just about an hour north of New York City. This makes us conveniently accessible for families in the tri-state area who are looking to meet and pick up their new companion. Our location also allows us to raise puppies in a calm, family environment surrounded by fresh country air.

Are your puppies AKC registered?

Yes, all of our puppies come from AKC-registered parents and meet the strict standards of the Maltese breed. Registration ensures that your puppy’s lineage is traceable and backed by a reliable pedigree. We pride ourselves on breeding with integrity, health, and proper documentation.

How do I reserve a puppy?

Puppies are reserved through a deposit system and often go quickly due to high demand. Families are encouraged to join our waitlist so they can be contacted as soon as a litter is available. Deposits secure your place in line and guarantee that you will be matched with one of our puppies.

What comes with my puppy?

Every Orange County Maltese puppy leaves our home with a starter care package, including food, a blanket with their litter’s scent, and a favorite toy. Your puppy will also come with up-to-date vaccinations, deworming records, and a veterinary health check. We provide AKC paperwork and lifetime support to help your puppy settle into their new home.

Do you offer delivery or pickup only?

Most families choose in-person pickup directly from our home in Orange County, NY, as it allows them to meet us and see where the puppies are raised. For those who live farther away, we may arrange safe and trusted pet nanny delivery services upon request. Our goal is to make sure every puppy arrives safely and stress-free.

How do you raise your puppies?

Our puppies are raised in a loving, family-oriented environment, never in kennels or cages. They are socialized daily with people, children, and household sounds, which helps them adjust easily to new homes. We also start early potty training and playful enrichment activities to set a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

What size do Maltese typically reach?

Adult Maltese usually weigh between 4–7 pounds and remain small enough to be wonderful lap companions. We do not breed for extremely tiny or “teacup” sizes, as these can lead to health concerns. Instead, we focus on raising healthy puppies that grow into strong, well-proportioned adults.

Do Maltese shed?

Maltese are considered a low-shedding, hypoallergenic breed because they have silky hair instead of fur. This makes them a great choice for people with mild allergies or those who prefer a cleaner home. However, regular grooming and coat care are still important to keep your Maltese healthy and comfortable.

How can I contact you?

You can reach us directly through our Contact Us form on the website or by messaging us by Email or Phone. We are happy to answer questions, provide updates, and guide you through the puppy reservation process. Our goal is to build lasting relationships with families even after they take their puppy home.
